Is lubricant proper way to fix clunking?

I have 23 M340I & there was this notorious clunking coming from both front and rear struts. Took it to the dealership and they replaced it both but clunking was still present (this time different area). I then took it to the local bodyshop and they also heard it when I drove the car with them. They throughly inspected the whole suspension area and it's components and couldn't find anything that would cause clunking. They then put lubricant on the areas where they think it's essential and surprisingly I don't hear clunking anymore and it's been a solid month. So my question is... is lubricant a proper solution when it cones to this? I still can't help but think replacing whatever part would've been more right because I have a feeling clunking might coming back anytime soon.

Use the search function. You’ll find the main suspension clunk thread with TSB and firsthand fixes as well as those that have not resolved the clunk.
