My 2026 M340i xDrive spec in production
Hey all, ordered my 2026 M340i xDrive 12/20/25. Just went into production yesterday. Went with everything except Driver Professional and Traffic Jam Assist. Attaching the build with some pics. Went with the black Vernasca leather with blue stitching and accents despite the site naming it my exterior color. Extremely excited as I am coming over from another German manufacturer. If you have any questions let me know, my service center and sales rep have been phenominal keeping me updated every step of the way.

3/24/26: Exterior Body Assembly Begins. Sales rep called me to let me know because he is excited too (ordered his own 340 in February). Got details on what I need to bring, and let them know my detailer will have the car once I get it. Declined the "detail" the dealer provides. Got my plates registered today as well.

Mine is in Baltimore right now, but needs to head south to Brunswick where it will get its MPE \ Black Badges and then head to the PDC. Distract yourself but get excited! |

This is the long part... my car finished production 2/27 and has been sitting at the port since then. Mine is a German build waiting in Bremerhaven. Guessing won't get here for another 1-2 months.

Orderd 12/20/25 so I have been waiting for a while. It's a small market dealership but I would need to drive 2 hours to get to my next dealer location. |

Congratulations! You are got enjoy it! My build came quicker than the 10-12 weeks they said. My allocation was near going in to production so I got mine configured on January 14, it went into production on January 29th and was built on February 3. It made it to the dealer on March 17!

So once it makes it on the boat your bmw center can give you the the information on what boat it is on and then you have to do some legwork to track that ship. Most of the sites you have to pay for but the one I found was ps://maritimeoptima.com and you can download the app, it gives you 10 updates and then it cuts you and you can pay or just use a different email address and you get 10 more for free. Vessel finder was another but you don’t get updates frequently I believe it’s once a week. The longest wait is when it gets to the port in Germany and waiting to be loaded on the boat. If the ship has to make stops before heading to the us that’s delay for almost a week. Once mines was on the boat it made another stop in Germany for almost a week before heading to Baltimore port witch it was there only in Baltimore for a couple days and it went to Brunswick, I’m not sure if it made any other stop here as I stopped tracking the ship. |

So I just ordered a m340i yesterday order is being finalized and put in. Is there a way to know at this point if it’s German or Mexico build at this point? Any rhyme or reason. I figured they were all built in Mexico but im seeing also Germany.

For Mexico, look for a VIN starting with 3MW (specifically the digit 3 in the first position) or a J in the 7th position for US models. German-built 3 Series vehicles typically have a VIN starting with W (such as WBA or WBS) and a C in the 7th position. Also, if the 11th digit is an F, it's Munich, if it's an 8, it's Mexico. |

The VIN info above also matches my experience; first and 11th digits. I believe the dealer can tell if it's a Germany vs Mexico build slot if they look closely at the build / allocation info. One dealership tried telling me all 3 series for the US were built in Mexico, but there are definitely some regular (non-Jahre) versions coming from Germany to US. Either way, bet you'll enjoy it once it arrives! |

Yeah that’s what the dealer seems to think as well. I actually found out about the German bound cars by doing a little research. I’ll know more soon. Yes I’m looking forward to it. I ordered a manual m3 two years ago. That wait was about 4.5 months. They think it should be here in May/june. I just traded it in for the m340i lol. Looking for something a little more practical that I can drive all year around with the family etc. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the m340i all around performance wise on the test ride. |
