Many users have reported irregular on center characteristics in the G20 steering across both 330i and m340i. The cars have different steering racks due to packaging the B48/B58, so suspicion is it relates to tires/suspension kinematics.

The car will require constant micro corrections to drive in a straight line, and never feels directly settled. It is particularly evident at highway speeds. This makes it very tiring to drive long journeys, as even the smallest road undulations throw the car off course.

I added a poll, if you could post in comments your car/tire setup. Curious to know if anyone has found a fix. I found that slightly uneven tire pressures can exacerbate the problem even further.

My personal opinion here - there is a significant steering issue - at least in M340 X drive that I had for a few weeks. It's definitely not a "pulling" or a "misalignment" or an air pressure issue. it keeps needing adjustmentsto keep the car going straight as it wonders - very slightly -My opinion.

What I experienced was something that was not intermittent. it happened every time I drove the car. it becomes kind of exhausting on a long drive. I can't say what others have experienced - but my guess is that it's in the engineering. BMW NA wound up buying back my 2021 M340 after they verified the issue - and also duplicated it with several cars on the lot. They tried many fixes - none worked.

I drive an E46 and my test drives didn't leave me feeling good about the steering, but they were limited enough in nature that I figured I'd adapt. When I read about people bemoaning the steering it struck a chord with me.

It will simply be reassuring to see the scope via poll.

I actually still love driving my E46 but something fresh with current tech will be great, as will the additional performance. Plus I need 2 more vehicles since my kids turned 16.

I hear you. I think one of the problems with places like this is the negative stuff can get blown out of proportion and often times making it seem as though the majority of folks are experiencing what would otherwise be rare occurrences (read minority). Naturally you're not going to see people go out of their way to report how happy they are that the car drives in a straight line and requires little to no intervention.

Nevertheless, a simple poll like this could achieve peace of mind.

but i don't have highways where i live, it's twisty slippy poorly cambered, nasty corners, and this is where this car shines. i take family of 5 and dog and lock stock and barrel and just smash through the miles

No issues on my M340i RWD. Super easy to point straight down the road.

G20 330i xDrive, there are definitely micro adjustments when driving most of the time because the roads are not straight. So that doesn't really bother me.

Mines a 2020 M340i xdrive all square 225/40 R19's. Were fading Bridgestone All-season run flats when I got it in Aug last year and then swapped to Pirelli P-Zero run flats in Nov. Steering felt fine on Bridgestones but is even better on the new Pirellis. Took it on a vivid run down a nicely paved back country sweeper a fortnight ago at a pace I wouldn't even dare unless I was very very confident of the steering, both straight and in the twisties. Perhaps the problem relates to a specific period of manufacture or origin (Mexico vs Germany) ??

Holy ! Bmw bought the car back that's amazing.

I'm very particular about steering and have driven 1200 miles only m340i xdrive with pilot sport all seasons and steering is near perfect. Nothing about it bothers me. I come from an f30. This feels equal or better imho.

If anyone experiencing the problem, and had it
fixed by an alignment done at either the dealer or an independent shop, could post the alignment specs printout, that could help those wanting to do an alignment in an attempt to solve the issue.

As someone mentioned in another post, factory alignment specs are pretty broad. I’m having a bit of this issue, and want to take it to my independent shop for a new alignment. 22 m340. 800 miles.

Interesting results so far, seems plenty of folks have noticed this issue.

Interesting alignment, lots of rear camber and toe-in. I suspect these cars require a good amount of toe in, and for whatever reason they are not coming out of the factory like that.

Can't really post the tire specs of each car but have noticed it more than once.

I've driven 3 different M340i's (RWD and xDrive) and one of the xDrive models had required corrections.

I've had 3 different loaner experiences with the 330i (all xDrive) and two of three loaners required corrections as well. Didn't get to spend enough time in one of them to know as the engine literally blew up on me
