I guess not. When I get in the car after remote starting, red LEDs are off and my seat is not cold anymore but not hot either. Red LEDs will turn on after I hit start button in the car. I always remote start the car like 5 minutes before I get in. Maybe that’s why the seat doesn’t feel warm. I just don’t give it enough time maybe?

Thanks. I have an infrared thermometer gun and will run a test today.

I tested just now with an infrared gun. Temp outside is 23F although car was sitting in garage overnight so probably closer to 30F in there.

Temp of all seats and wheel was 39F before remote start.
Temp after remote start (10 mins passed with engine running) was 67F for seats and 90F for the wheel.

I suspect the seats were just getting warmed up by the 75F AC that was running when I triggered remote start. Seats felt cold to the touch honestly.

Then I started the engine and the LED lights for driver turned on. Within 5 mins the driver seat was at 85F.

Conclusion for me is: after remote start, wheel defintely heats up. Seats do not.

The seats and steering wheel do warm up with remote start. The lights go on once I put my foot in the brake and hit start.

I have a 2021 M340 running software 07/2021.50 and when utilizing auto start only my steering wheel heating turns on. My seat heating doesn’t come on at all.

You have to go into the head unit and program it I have mine to go on when the temp outside is 40 degrees upon remote start,seat and wheel

This is what i have going on with my BMW's as well. Same software version as mentioned here. I see folks claim otherwise, but have seen nothing like what's described to verify the claims.

It's been established that it works on some cars and doesn't work on others like mine and MY22 models for example. Still not clear why that's the case.

It has been covered in this thread multiple times. Yes we are enabling that obviously! Still won't work for many.

I have a 2019, a 2021 and 22 in several sedan models in the range, none heat up the seats via remote start by key or phone. Steering wheel Yes! All i drive settings are set to trigger climate below 50 degrees.

Okay. So this is embarrassing. My mistake.

In my car, remote heating does not turn on the heated seats. I let it run one full cycle and car turned off automatically. Touched the seats and it was cold. I then remote started it again later and checked. Heated seats were off. Got inside the car and looked and it was still off. After pressing the start stop button, the heated seats turned on. So yes. I'm sorry for the wrong information posted previously. I'll go change it.

When you said "program" I thought you meant coding. Setting the temp rules has no effect on seat heating for those of us with this issue.

remote start via phone or key does not turn on heated seats, only turns on heated steering wheel

I have mine set to turn on at 10 C, it's -30 outside and the seats don't turn on

How do you guys know that it turns on the heated steering wheel? The steering wheel becoming warm?

Yes. It's quite obvious and I've measured it with an IR gun too.

Ahh. It becomes warm in mine but I just assumed it was because the vents were directed towards the steering wheel. Lol. Weird that the steering wheel heat turns on but seats don't.
