You mean the audio? Every car I've owned has this lag

Had my car for a year many full throttle accelerations, but only NOW (this past week) I'm Seeing eboost show up on my screen. I know it worked that way, but never saw it before last week (2022 M340i)

Usually on hibrid eco mode on downslopes it will enable sail mode instead of using regen braking, which is what you usually want for better mileage on highway trips. But if you press the right paddle shifter it will do regen braking instead without having to switch to hybrid, which is nice in case you want to do some charging on big down slopes for doing some city driving at the end.

Finally got rid of the HK stereo. What a piece of junk!!! I've heard portable radios that sound better, really.

A completely new stereo system. Used Focal speakers and bimmer-tech (alpha - one) amp.... and now it sounds amazing. Close to (but not as good) as the Bowers stereo BMW uses on other models. Definitely as good as Audi's BO or MB Burmester.

The difference is huge.

Best 4K I ever spent!!!

Congrats, no reason to troll owners of the HK stereo though tbh.

I learned it is not so easy locking your keys in the car. My car was locked when I opened the trunk (comfort access) and placed my backpack in the trunk — except that I forgot my key was in the backpack. When I went to touch the door, to open it, it didn’t unlock. Instead the trunk opened 😂

That is so awesome. Cars are so smart these days on little things like that. Our 2016 Honda Civic does the same. If you put the key in the trunk it will pop it right open, unless it detects the second key is in the cabin.

Is that just for parts or for labor also? I ordered the HK just to see if it will suffice because I don't want to rip the brand new car apart to replace the HiFi system. If the HK isn't that good then I will replace it a year or two later.

Sandpiper - good question. I spent $550 to install it - and that was a discount from a shop that I've done other work at years ago. The new stereo speakers, amp, etc make it feel like a whole new car!!!

Try the HK and see what you think. The best way to judge it is listen to something else, like the Bowers in the 7 series or the BO in Audi. I mean the HK is not the worst, but BMW could and should offer a real upgrade for a 50-60K car.

The HK can be removed pretty easily and replaced with new components. Not as easy as the stock HIFI, but easy enough, and you can even keep the HK speaker covers so no one will know the components were swapped (which is good for a leased car.). They can also be removed and put back to stock for a few hundred if you want to do that.

Listen to the HK when you get the car and decide for yourself what is best. You may feel it is adequate, and if so, you'll save a lot of money

don't listen to others, listen to the sound for yourself, and decide. Not trying to knock the HK, it's ok, but for me personally, the upgrade was well worth it with Focal speakers and dimmer tech amp.

a thread on this issue answers a lot of questions ---

This seems to be turning into another HK thread. Let OP decide if the system is adequate enough and upgrade if needed. There is no shortage of options in that regard.

This! I’m nearly 300 miles into my new 2023 330e and I find myself switching between regular Hybrid and Eco Pro mode. I mostly commute in city, but we have many hills where the regen just doesn’t recover enough to justify the slow down and acceleration again. If I know an upcoming stop is approaching, I may shift it manually (paddle shifters) or use the Hybrid button. If I come to a complete stop after using paddle shifters, my car shifts back. So I’m mostly in eco mode of some sort at all times.

I have to admit, while I like regen braking, I drive nearly 90% city. I can recharge at home or a few public charging stations (L2), but most of these are free. Believe me when I say, Target gets more than their fair share from my spendings since seeing the “free” charging.

Before buying the car I was exceptical about regen braking recovering much energy but it’s pretty amazing. On the way to my town there is a big climb + downslope (5 kms down) and in those 5 kms it recovers 3 of electrical automomy!

Also, the other day I went to a city 60 kms away, I stupidly went all the time in electric in the highway (speed limit in that highway is low) without using hybrid to reserve some electric autonomy for city driving so I arrived there without electric autonomy and had to do several errands in the city. I restarted the mpg counter just to see what mileage would it have expecting to have 26 mpg or lower (like a 320i but with more weight) and I actually got 39! In the city it worker like one of those Toyota taxis it would run a part of the time with the ICE but pretty quickly specially after a stop on a red light it would switch to electric with the power limit (the blue line) set to 20% so if you were soft with the pedal you could move in electric for a minute or so before it switched again to the ICE, and then repeat.

Yea. I hate to crap on the wireless charging. I don’t know for sure it’s specific to BMW. Seems like the dual use of Bluetooth and wifi to support wireless Apple CarPlay is a common culprit. Personally, I had the same issue. Switching to a physical cable fixed it. But if I got rid of my wireless charging (I think), I would’ve lost my digital key capabilities for the 2023 330e.

Either way, if anyone else has that problem, try dropping your wireless CarPlay configuration and going to a physical cable. That seemed to even speed up response time on Apple Music streaming too.

Had a dealer loaner X5 for a day and was impressed by sparseness of the gauge cluster layout which was completely decluttered of tach, graphical speedo, and fuel level...Hopped back in my m340 and found the "Reduced" feature in the settings which quiets the cluster except when querying with the stalk-button. I'm enjoying this more Zen-like aesthetic, at least for the moment

I learned that after the 2022.11 upgrade the car now has a proper sprint mode like the 4 series! It even opens up the exhaust flap temporarily. You just hold the left paddle shifter for 1 sec and car goes into lowest possible gear and into a sort of sports mode temporarily. Before the update it would not open the flap.

My 12/21 330e did that before the update (don’t know if it opens the exhaust flap but it goes to the lowest possible gear).

Yeah not sure what OP is talking about. I have been able to use sprint mode from day 1 on my MY21 M340i build.

Not quite. Before the update yes it would go into lowest gear. However it would not say sprint, it would not open flap, and it would not go into sports mode "behind the scenes", it also would not set transmission to sports transmission.
The new true sprint mode is much much different.
