The email attached in this thread says 6UX (no touch functionality on BMW controller) is only affecting G30, G31.
https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1884564 But it seems it is more widely spread, as today I quoted a new G26 4 series GC and the build sheet got 6UX iDrive Controller Classic added automatically. Anyone see this option show up? Or have more info about it? |

6UX iDrive Controller Classic came up on my order acceptance too for a 2022 M340i xDrive. From what I've been able to learn it's nice way of saying the touch function of the iDrive knob is deleted. Not a huge deal unless you were used to inputting letters/numbers that way. I did NOT get the touch screen delete code (6UY) though so thats good for resale or if I decide to start using it.
I tend to use the iDrive controller in my 2018/F30 old-school style since its closer to where my hand is typically resting. The touch-screen is a further away and I'd rather not look at finger smudges all the time so I never use it. I am hopeful the gesture control works as advertised. That could be helpful when my eyes need to stay up and simple inputs need to happen. |

Someone just posted that they ordered a X5 45e and it has the 6UX on the build sheet.

I've just heard from my dealer that this is a current build restriction across all models. It's not a biggie for me in a RHD car, as I'm right handed, thus having to try and 'write' letters and numbers on the idrive controller with my left hand is almost impossible anyway. I've never used it on my current F32. Apparently they appear to have (at the moment) overcome the touch screen shortage. But there is another current deletion of Apple CarPlay and Wifi - that will be re-enabled by an OTA software update at some point.

I have 6UX on my M4, just been built and will collect next month, yet I've just seen an LCI M3 with iDrive 8 come with a fully functioning Touch Controller.
Oh the irony. I thought they were removing the Touch controller completely anyway for ID8 with dual screens. Very eff-ed off. |

I wouldn't be so bothered if Voice Control actually worked but I did use the touch controller in my F8x M2/M3 quite a bit despite the left handed requirement. Hopefully the Voice Control is better than it was in F8x. It's as much the principal too and there is no reduction in cost either. |

Yes I’m annoyed about the non-existent cost reductions in the U.K. - for some reason other markets do get a credit - we don’t! BMW U.K. not interested. But the touch screen is far far easier to use than the stupid thing on the idrive controller. Even if you don’t get on with voice. Indeed, the touchpad is pretty much rendered pointless by the touch screen. |
