2021 M340i in Portimao Blue!
Took delivery on a really cold day in Chicago on Christmas Eve! Big thanks to Josh at Bill Jacobs BMW for everything - they're the largest BMW dealership in the Chicagoland area and have a TON of inventory. Driving through their remote lots, there were multiple vehicles with the same options but different wheel and color combos - made it really easy to find the right one.
Now the specs and options: - Portimao Blue - 791M Jet Black Wheels - came with pretty awful Bridgestone all season RFTs, planning to swap those out to PS4S when summer rolls around - Black Vernasca Leather with Blue Stitching - Aluminum Tetragon Trim - Adaptive M Suspension - Executive / Driver Assistance Pro / Parking Assistance Pro - Remote start / power tailgate / HK Sound I'm coming from a 2015 F30 328i that I've driven almost 80k miles with 0 issues, but her time was coming and I didn't want to risk any timing chain issues that the N20/N26 engines were known for. The G20 platform is a really big step up - the interior especially is a huge upgrade. Still taking it pretty easy driving wise and with the cold weather and questionable grip from the stock tires, I don't want to push too hard - first impressions though are steering feel is improved and the ride is planted, though firmer than my F30 over bumps (tires may be a factor too). Power delivery is smooth and the mild hybrid system actually makes auto start/stop almost imperceptible! I was worried that it would bother me as I had it coded out on my F30, but the first time I drove I didn't even notice the engine shutoff at a stop light. Exhaust does sound a bit more muted/tame than the 2020 model I test drove before - MPE may be a future upgrade... Mods so far: - IND painted reflectors - Kies Motorsports CF spoiler - Blendmount/mirror-tap Uniden R7 radar detector - Paint Correction/PPF/Tints by the amazing people at Chicago Auto Pros - XPEL Prime XR Plus window tint, XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF, GTechniq CSL - Carbonio no-drill front license plate mount - Various coding via Bimmercode and Esys Pictures below! Nice interior spec too. I also got the Black interior with blue stitching with Ash wood . Looks amazing. Some may think it's too black not for me. I love it .

Congrats, the black blue combo looks excellent. I use Chicago Auto Pros too, definitely recommend.
I installed a mirror tap (for my Uniden R7) on my F30 and it was fairly easy. The videos posted here really helped. I learned the mirror tap on the G20 is more complicated... Do you install the tap yourself? Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated. |

Snow was pretty light and roads were already cleared, but definitely not confidence inspiring. Coming from a dedicated set of winters in my RWD F30 (Sottozero 3s), these felt like hockey pucks!

See this thread: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1663910 The hardest part for me was removing all the plastic around the mirror/camera modules. I didn't bother pulling the purple wire harness out since it was too tight, but managed to snake the mirror taps into the respective sockets for power and ground. Feel free to PM me if you need more help! How do you like the R7? Been thinking about switching to Uniden for a while now.

My 21' M340i in Portimao Blue!
Thanks! I wanted the ash wood as well but none of the cars in inventory had it and I didn't feel like waiting for a custom order. They both look really good, just a slightly different style!

The R7's range is great and as advertised, huge selling point. I did much of my research using VortexRadar. Here is a link directly comparing the R7 to the Escort 360 Max. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vor...on-review/amp/ |

I really like Vortex Radar as well - super informative and really sold me on the performance of the Uniden line over Escort's offerings. Only thing I wish the R7 had was the auto-GPS lockouts but I understand they're working on it. I was originally considering the Redline 360C, but at $750 pre-tax...couldn't really justify it when the R7 was almost half the price!

Last, if you do take off that rear view mirror again, please please post a video, I’ve been holding off on tapping into the mirror power because of the consistent challenge others covey here. I don’t want to break anything! |

I don't plan on taking my mirror housing apart soon...but a few tips I can share! Make sure you use a plastic trim tool to separate the pieces, start from the top, flat piece as that just kind of slides out backwards (towards the rear seats) with 3 clips. Then you can start slowly prying apart the left and right halves of the mirror housing.

Definitely thinking about a lip and rear diffuser, maybe an MPE in the near future

They're on my list, but the install looks like such a pain compared to the F30...
