I am sure most of you must have noticed by now that the pre-LCI models start automatically from stop mode at traffic lights when the car in front moves ahead a certain distance! This is great, it's just that sometimes the car in front moves ahead a little to close the gap ahead thus unnecessarily starting my car when the lights are still on red. Well, you can't win them all...

It was 56 degrees this morning and my heated steering wheel was on automatically when I started the vehicle. I didn't see any indicator light for it, but it was nice and warm for my drive to work. Fwiw my climate control is set on auto for 76 degrees.

If only the damn heated seats would turn on also in this situation.

You can also set the seats to turn on at a specific temperature. I've got my steering wheel and seats to turn on at 50 degrees.
Doesn't work with seats. (Not with remote start I mean). Known issue. Apparently it works with some firmware versions of old...

Lock & unlock doors

By accident, I just discovered you can lock and unlock doors from gripping the rear door handles and not just the fronts!

I have latest firmware and heated seats will come on when a minimum temp is met. Have always done so regardless of software. Obviously, the temp needs to be set.

Yep. I use it all the time when I have other passengers. Rather than unlock the front door and then unlock for passengers after I get in, I just tap the rare door and it opens all doors - for everyone.

It doesn't work for most of us. This is a known issue. Steering heat comes on but seat heater doesn't. Some people who initially thought theirs worked later found it is was just from the heat circulation. So annoying.

I hate this. Wireless CarPlay makes my iPhone 12 overheat within 10 mins. And screen dims to 50% brightness to protect itself. Sucks

Drove my m340 in the dark for the first time yesterday (nights closing in). Found two new things
-lights in the sill behind front wheels, illuminate the area under the doors and
-main beam turns with the front wheels.

I thought the latter was amazing but I am a man of simple pleasurss etc!

Noticed the same thing. I don't put my phone (iPhone12mini) on the charging shelf UNLESS it is relatively low on power.

Learned the hard way. Got out of car one time and the phone has a warning it was shut down due to overheating. Took about 5 min for it to cool down enough to make a call.

If you put it in the shelf at an angle, or front first, it won't charge and saves you the overheating issue.

First world problems, I know....

There's a new heating pad that a member on this forum just installed - no overheating problems with iPhone 14. However it's not clear if it's the newer version pad that fixed the problem or if it's just that overheating from wireless charging has been fixed on iPhone 14. Something to keep in mind.

Also, any overheating is known to shorten battery life. Hence, I don't use my wireless charging unless my IPhone is close to being flat.

No. Wireless CarPlay doesn't make your phone overheat. Your charging pad does.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. The wireless charger still can overheat the phone, especially if using CarPlay.

Good to know. Sounds like new tray does not introduce the problem so you could consider that.

No. Wireless CarPlay doesn't make your phone overheat. Your charging pad does.
You are incorrect. Very much so!
I don't have a wireless charging pad.

CarPlay wireless makes it overheat.
I run the same phone on wife's highlander which does WIRED carplay and no such issues.

I also have turned off carplay altogether on my bmw and no overheating.

Edit: to be clear I believe wireless charging ALSO causes overheating. But im not referring to that.

Works with my 2022 on iDrive 7 version 07/2022.33. Worked when I purchased the car new 03/2022 when it was cold enough and then the prior two mornings when we had a temp drop cold enough to hit temp set in the car.
Interesting. My build from 2022 has an older version and no upgrades available after 9 months. Ugh.

Oh man this is a funny one. . . I've been grumbling about the angle of the headrests for a while. . . I thought they adjusted only up and down, and I was stuck with it poking me in the head. Turns out they actually adjust front to back with the angle change, and now I am cradled like a little baby. This was totally by accident this morning.

this worked for me a couple times, but recently, I noticed it stopped working, engine doesn't start automatically any more when car in front of me moves forward. I wonder what could be the reason/setting? I tried adaptive/comfort/eco-pro mode, all same. the front collision warning is on with medium setting. this is 2022 330xi
