Front Collision Warning System

So a few weeks ago driving in clear weather on the highway I got a message saying Front Collision Warning System alert, Front Camera may be obstructed. I though maybe a leave or some trash got on the sensor, which I believe is the Radar sensor on the lower front of the car.
Then this AM driving in heavy fog I got the message again, but after a short stop and when the car was turned back on it was not there. AI did check and saw nothing blocking any sensor.
Then after driving in the fog it came back on. Pulled into the garage and turn off and back on the car and it cleared it, so I'm guessing its a issue I need to take in.

I've had it a few times in foggy weather.

See http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ight=collision

The alert clears itself I didn't bother going into the dealer.

Happened once here in fog. I think it is by design. In dense fog safe distance are much farther and I would understand why they would program it to provide an alert about maintaining safe distance and not relying on safety systems. The message seems to be shared with debris on camera/sensor.

I've seen this a few times on mine, stopping and starting clears it.

Last time it went in to the dealer I asked them to check it and there was nothing showing other than the fact that the fault appeared and went away again. Unless it happens constantly they can't do much.

After thinking about this I feel it has to be a fault. I mean BMW makes a car that when it gets foggy something fails?
So what do people in foggy areas do everyday.
Nah, it failed a few weeks ago on the hwy is clear weather and if I turned off the car then back on yesterday it would work for a while before it failed. That tells me it works in the fog but the sensor is bad or something or it would immediately sense the fog and give me the message.
Anyway its going in for regular service and I'll add this to the list of things to fix.
Thanks

Same thing has happened to me multiple times on my F10 for the 4 years I've had it. Usually happens when driving in muddy rain or in so to speak - bad weather conditions. It is normally gone when you restart the car, but then it will pop-up again sometime soon, unless you clean the sensor in the front of the car.

I had this pop up 3 times today while driving in dry sunny conditions, the only thing I can think is that is was caused by the low sun getting directly into the camera, effectively blinding it?
