NJ/PA dealer recommnedation?
Hi all,
I am looking for recommendation for a good dealer and CA in the NJ/PA region, can also consider MD. I am in Delaware and the one dealer here is a snob. It's hard to find deals on the X5, and the combination that I am looking for white and mocha. maybe will go with white and black, which is more in stock with most dealers. Is $500 over invoice before incentives what I should be getting? |

Dave Santos at Flemington BMW in NJ. $500 over invoice should be pretty easy to do with most NJ dealerships. Just watch for the extra costs (ridiculous document fees of $300+ for example but you can negotiate them down).
Also, considering that it only takes 3-4 weeks on average why don't you just order a vehicle exactly as you want? For these prices, you shouldn't have to "settle" for options/colors that you don't really want. I know people love instant gratification, but I'd rather get exactly what I want unless there was a situation where I absolutely "needed" a new car right away. Even then, I'd probably just rent a car (or get my dealer to give me one of their service loaners for a few weeks) while waiting for my perfect car to come in. It's not like they give you that much better of a deal on an in-stock car anyway (unless it's been sitting on their lot for 6+ months). |

If you are willing to consider MD, I had a good experience with Dave Strassman at BMW of Silver Springs. I purchased a car there and registered it in Michigan, so out of state transactions are not a problem.
BMW of Silver Springs currently has in inventory a X5 50i in Mineral White with the Mocha Interior Design Package. There are also several other X5 vehicles in stock in Alpine White or Mineral White with either black or terra interiors. |

Thanks all for your response and suggestions. I am kind of getting frustrated coz, I am not finding a good deal. I am also a member of bimmerfest and has reached out to a board sponsor, but the discounts are not attractive at all.
Is $500 over invoice standard, I can definitely order a car and can wait, if the discount on order vs. on the lot is the same. In December when I was working with BMW of Mt laurel, for the car with the option that I wanted and doing 7MSD, I was in the $upper $500 range and now its like in the upper $600 to lower $700 range. The incentive has dropped only $1000 since December but looks like the discount dealers are giving is not as aggressive as it was in December. |

My impression is that BMW incentives on the X5 have declined about $2000 since December. I expect incentives from BMW to increase during the next couple months, if you can be patient.
BMW is currently trailing both Mercedes and Lexus in sales for this year, which may drive more incentives. In addition, there are only a few months left of 2016 X5 production before the changeover to 2017 models, so end of the model year deals may be available soon. |

Why not deal with multiple dealers via email before doing all of that driving? Things have progressed to the point where plenty of dealers are willing to give you a firm quote on an in-stock car remotely. If they don't, then don't deal with them.
I wouldn't necessarily call them a perfect dealer but Mt. Laurel BMW has a lot of inventory and is pretty reasonable to deal with. The sales/finance guys I've dealt with there have been pretty straightforward and reasonable. Tell them the price you want and they'll tell you if they can do it. That said, they tend to be a little to eager to please. I think I've gotten 4 follow up phone calls post-purchase to see how things were going with the new car. I guess the dealership is trying to increase it's overall ratings or something. |
