Motor Trend World's Greatest Drag Race 6 - featuring an M4 GTS

BIMMERPOST

GTS time seems more in line with a stock M4 DCT. I watched the video on mute so not sure if they explained anything about that.

So, anyone wanting a 911 after all this? Imagine the new 911 turbo is going to be a bit insane.

Just saw this, 12.1 @119 seems low for a GTS... There was a guy here who ran a 11.7 @ 120 with a stock ZCP, withOUT using LC.

Motortrend tested the 2015 F80 with a DCT and got 12.1 @118...
I swear they are out to get BMW The Camaro trapped 114, didn't hey say it was faster than the M4... I'm confused by these bullshit magazine/video reviews.

That's why I prefer real world results from actual owners.

all the times are from MT's tests over the course of time. In fact the race is predetermined and they run the race with each car finishing in the order they have their test results in. Unfortunately it is what it is. What you are saying about a guy who ran a 11.7 could be said about almost all the other cars. Many stock GTRs have gone 10.6-10.7 @125-127.

Another issue also is they run the cars as per manufacturer spec, so they wont lower tire pressure etc. I think they mentioned when running the C63s they had to keep the tire pressures at the recommended 41psi even though they would have gotten better times with lowering the psi to the normal 32-34...etc.

The base Carrera S now does 0-60 in 3.1 sec. Wow.

C&D got 0-60 in 3.4 sec with the non-S.

These new engines are impressive. Guess that's why they beat out the S55 in the International Engine of the Year awards.

Can someone post some screenshots? I turned it off after that cringeworthy beta male popped up on my display.

I didn't realize that. That's pathetic. This is their opportunity to run them all at the same time, same road, etc.

Since its an open airfield I would think it would be feasible, but I can imagine how many takes it would take to have all cars launch optimally. I would think also you could have some off the wall numbers too since there could be bogging, too much wheel spin and the manufacturers would throw a hissy fit...

It's definitely staged to some degree. in one of the past videos (few years ago maybe) the time they show at each 'pause' does not jive with the finishing order in the video. ie, slower cars by video with a listed time faster than those ahead of it. kind of like learning there's no santa clause, or lance actually cheated.

man the gts looks retarded here with it's awkward wing and orange wheels.. disappointing performance from it also considering billy bob's camaro 1le is pretty much just as fast around a track and in a straight line.. you have to be a hardcore, badge obsessed bmw fanboy to want that car (sorry if that offends anyone just my opinion)

And that's not to say wings look bad, because the viper looks straight up badass with its wing.

Where was the 488 Prancing Horse? My GTS is on its way and I will smile regardless but was bummed to see it lingering with America's finest.

Doesn't seem to be any faster than a stock M4 really?

Carreras S pretty much beat the M4 GTS. I was amazed by that run. A small Turbo Tune could put it at over 500 HP which could possible have put it ahead of all these cars tested?
