Is anyone here regretting black body + black rim combo?

Hi,

I can't really decide which color I want to go with. I like both white and black body color as well as black rim on both of them.

both of them look great.

Black + black looks stunning, but it is also a little bit too much time to time.

Just wanted to hear from people who actually have black body + black rim combo.

Are you regretting it? If so, why?

I like it. I would rather have white, but I bought CPO and didn’t really have a choice. The black just shows every little imperfection whether it be a door ding or just dirt. I’ve actually considered having it painted, but some days that carbon black just looks so good.

Had I opted for black, I think I would have also chosen black rims and black grills. However, black shows up all dirt and imperfections.
Instead, I went for space grey and the standard MSport rims. Not keen on black rims on any colour other than black or graphite grey.

Go for a unique color combination if you also want to opt for the black wheels imo. I personally would get the 599's if opting for wheels

My personal favorite is the panda look. We had an X3 that looked killer before we upgraded to the X5.

This is obviously a very subjective question and I think everything can look good if done properly. My Q5 was black/black which I still think looks best WHEN it's perfectly clean. Living in New England this didn't happen often and I drove myself crazy trying to keep it clean. You can see every little drop of water etc. Depending on the finish of the rims they can look very dirty as well. I had satin black which is basically a matte/gloss mix. I also had Cquartz Finest ceramic coating which prevented dirt buildup pretty well and it was still hard. Black/black used to be a unique look but now almost all brands offer some type of black optic package and to me it started feeling less special when every other Grand Cherokee on the road was blacked out.

When I traded in for the X5 we went the completely opposite direction with metallic white and liquid brushed silver wheels. I'm much happier with how much easier it is to keep clean, but I'm sure I will miss the stealth look from time to time. I do think white looks more sharp at night.

Or like the other guy said, you could go with a mix of the two. Black X6 phantom, White X6 panda

Most people are easily amused and think it's the baddest thing ever. I, on the other hand, just really wish it was white

The good news is it's been raining here for about a week and the car looks great! I think the carbon black looks best when there's a lot of rain and cloud coverage.

I would have chosen a different color but the black on black with white interior is the tits. I had to get it.

I am personally not a panda look fan, or a black car on black wheels fan. Bit much, and it completely hides the design of the wheels.

If you go with black getting it coated is an absolute necessity. Kamikaze miyabi is great, i had it on my old black sapphire metallic 335 and every time it rained the water would just run right off the car so it wouldn't leave any water marks. they make a full paint protection/sealant kit and its like 200 bucks - which isn't that bad imo especially if you're willing to DIY. having good paint protection/sealant makes a big difference on black cars and help keep it clean longer in my experience.

The reflectors on the front wheel arch. Do you guys in the US order these as an extra or is there a DMV or insurance requirement to have them? Fortunately they dont install them on the UK models.

I Love the Black On Black

I love the black on black theme. it's like a fresh black suit with some a pair of brand new shoes. Granted it does show every imperfection. Just gotta keep it clean.

Not an option. I believe the amber-colored front reflectors are actually a U.S. DOT (Department of Transportation) requirement. A lot of guys here smoke them out with film or replace them with body color painted blanks.

Owned this 535xi with black on black - loved the look, but turned it in and leased the 2018 X5 35xi - 599s, but winter wheels are black with snows. My Z4M Roadster is black with stock silver wheels in summer and black wheels with snows in the winter. To each his own.

I have the triple black (paint, wheels, interior, even replaced chrome girlles with black) and I'm loving it - but it depends on what you are looking for. If a sexy/aggressive look is not what you are going for then this may not be the combo for you.

I came from a 2014 space grey which i loved, but I wanted to get something different and black is the only other color that I like on the X5. My wife initially questioned my choice but quickly admitted that she really liked it once she saw it in person.

The only thing that is worth mentioning is that the black shows dirt much quicker than probably any other color, especially the greys. But once you wash and wax the all black it is hands down the sexiest combo.

I've got black 491 wheels on my Carbon Black X5 m-sport. I don't have pictures, unfortunately. But it looks super awesome and I'm super pleased with them. It's a really great look.

I got the wheels for my winter tire setup. I feel like I'm really going to miss them when I go back to the stock wheels for the summer.

Dirty, but you get the idea.
I would do a dark grey or grey instead of a full black.

If you're super picky about keeping your car clean, black cars are a nightmare. But, when clean, looks amazing.

I went white w/black wheels on my MY18 m sport. Blacked out the grille and I'm all set.
