Downpipes and Emissions in NY

I am planning to go catless soon. However, I know that it's almost impossible to pass with a catless dp's in NY. Would my best bet be to remove the dp everytime before emissions or is there any other way to pass it?

Yep u should remove dp or move somewhere with no yearly inspections or just do midpipe instead of downpipes ?

Depending in where you go..some places just plug into the obd and print your sticker. Most will not do a visual at small shops.

When I went catless on my old exhaust. I would manually reset my readiness monitors and drive out of boost for 15 minutes and go get the systems ready then gi right to the inspection station. In ny , you are allowed one monitor to be not ready.

It was a pain in the ass more so than finding a person to pay off to pass me with tint.

That's why when I got my m3 it will stay with cats and no tint. New York is too difficult

Have plenty of friends in NYC that enjoy their catless for now at least

When I loved in nyc... it was definitely easier to find a small shop to pay off....moved up to upstate ny and it has become very difficult.

NyC is planning to move to tail pipe sniffers which will be unbeatable as far as I know

I do miss the smell of exhaust gasses in the morning when I had a turbo back exhaust
