Rear ended

On the way home I got rear ended. Shit way to end the week. The guy admitted all fault and the police report was made. I spoke with insurance and they will handle it all. It's a 2015 with 100k miles on it but I hope they do a good job on the repairs. Bumper is messed up along with the lower part of the tailgate

First, Glad you are fine.
Then, the car will get repaired and you won't notice a difference.

The damages are not too bad. You'll be back up and running in no time.

I had a similar hit a couple of years ago. Not quite as bad but it still required a new bumper, lower tailgate and carbon diffuser. $8k

Glad your ok! My rear end collision looked similar to yours and it came out to 11k bmw parts are ridiculously priced just new parts alone such as bumper, rear valance, exhaust, bottom portion of trunk lid, one tailight (there was a small crack due to impact), heatshield, pdc sensors, bumper guard and other minor stuff came out to 7k then you have paint with blending, supplies and all sorts of alignments from trunk lid to suspension and labor at 4k.

Lucky you.. when I had to get my tailgate/bumper fixed I got a bunch of stuff done at the same time

First I sourced a same color tailgate at a junkyard and had it shipped to the shop. That along with a bit of a labor swap got me trim/emblem blackout, front lip, touch up dents, tinted windows, muffler delete, tow hitch install.

The only down side is if it finds its way to car fax.. "knock on wood"

It's the police report that gets you on the car fax and not as much the body shop.

I honestly don't care what's on the police report. I keep my cars about 10 years then at that point when I trade them in the car dealerships don't really care much, especially in my area in Canada.

I'll be talking to the insurance adjuster guy next week. Are there any specific checks and demands I should fights for? I'll definitely get them to do a full alignment, what else is there besides that and the body work?

The other thing they'll try to do is repair parts instead of replacing them. That was the main reason I did the junk yard search. It was the only way I could get an oem replacement part.

Even if you keep it, you can ask for diminished value claim.

There aren't many Canadian insurance companies that will pay a diminished value claim, it will be an uphill battle.

How do you have a 160k km on a 2015?

Glad everyone was ok. My 2014 X5 was also rear-ended by a teenage street racer that lost control coming over a hill. The bumper worked perfectly and i barely felt anything other than a slight push forward. BMW sent me to an authorized shop in Woodbridge. Damage look bad but was $17k. It drives well now but Carfax shows diminished value. Some jurisdictions (not Ontario) allow this to be recovered even if you plan on driving it to the end.
