Diagnostic Scanner Fuse?

Had a CEL pop up on me yesterday. Just so happened I was close to an O'Reilly's so I tried to have the code read. Guy told me the scanner tool couldn't connect. He said it was more than likely a blown fuse, cutting the power to the OBD2 port. Hmmm, wonder if this was user error of if he indeed is guiding me correctly? Car was running fine, but I did notice excessive radiator fan noise coming from under the hood. Fan was running as if it was a 100 degree and I was pushing the car hard. Neither one of those hold true though. Been looking at fuse diagrams. #11 looks promising. Appears to be in the BDC on passenger side. Is this hard to get to? Any of you guys encountered this?

Valid point. I have Bimmercode, but it doesn't read codes. Like you said I'd need bimmerlink. I'm going to swing by Autozone today and confirm it wasn't user error. I'll update after.

Highly recommend the BimmerLink investment dude. $30 some odd dollars to be able to scan the car on demand and clear codes is worth it and has saved me headaches a view times. Also your tuning software (BM3 or MHD) can scan and clear codes.

Good call on the BM3 software being able to scan and clear codes. I totally forgot that. I haven't connected the BM3 app lately, so need to look for revisions to my stage 2 tune anyhow.

On a side note, can BM3 app monitor engine temps? It's beyond me why BMW decided to give us oil temp and not engine temp on our gauge clusters. Or at least that's the case on my '15 cluster.

So, like I thought it was O'Reilly user error. Autozone had no trouble scanning the codes, so obviously no fuses are blown. I'm going to start another thread on the codes it found.

Yep, logging channel for coolant temp is there.

I'm just a bonehead and forgot my BM3 software can run codes. Believe it or not I think this is my first CEL since I've owned the vehicle.
