Match UP 8dsp
I apologize if this is a rehash. I have a 2023 330e xdrive with Hi-Fi (676). I'm a bit confused on which direction to go.
I'm looking for good 'bang for the buck'. I was going to see what just changing speakers out accomplishes (keeping amplifier and underseat subwoofers). 1) Focal gets good reviews (and is more affordable buying on Ebay). I do see some say the sound is too sharp and gets tiring. 2) BavAudio gets decent reviews. 3) Gets similar reviews but is the most expensive. Any thoughts or recommendations? |

From experience on many BMW's I have owned, upgrading the amp first is best for sound improvement, you won't notice much (if any) difference if all you do is upgrade the speakers...
That being said, I just recently installed the Bimmertech AlphaOne Amp & retained the OEM HiFi speakers in my M440i Vert. Soundstage & available volume without muddiness/distortion is simply amazing vs the OEM 'amp' Sometime down the road I will prolly also upgrade to their AlphaOne speaker set, but for now I am more than pleased. The packaged custom DSP Tune for the G23 is perfect! For my 2015 435 I went with Bavsound Amp, then full speaker set afterwards - that setup was to upgrade HK Top HiFi & I am also very happy with that

That's great information. But wait! Someone will now post a note saying the opposite (start with speakers)! Drives me crazy.
I checked the price of the Alphaone Amp and it's $1,500 vs $600ish for Bavaudio or Focal Speakers. Do you still think the Amp provides the best "bang for the buck"? Last edited by Randyg; 03-30-2023 at 03:50 PM.. |

Just did it
Hi. I just did the Alpha 1 upgrade on my 2022 M440i vert. It is awesome. High Fi system as H&K was not available due to chip shortage. It works great. I also got a custom audio tune from a Bimmer-Tech technician remotely. That was pretty cool. I put together a playlist, he dialed into the amp, and we audio tuned interactively. I would recommend. I might look at speakers, but that seems like a lot of work. Amp install was easy, video from Bimmer-tech was spot on.

Very helpful thread. I'm convinced that buying an amp first us the right direction to go.
Question: Why buy the Alphaone amplifier from Bimmertech when the AudioFischer Match Up7DSP and the RAM harness can be purchased off Ebay for $500+ less? I see a connection to the battery also needs to be made and there are no preset tunes....but are those the only differences? |

Any easy upgrade for the Harman Kardon system?
Is there an amp I can swap. Rather not do the speakers cause it is a pain in the butt. |

Audiotek Fischer or Bimmertech.
Audiotek also manufactures the amp for Bimmertech. They are pretty much the same. Back to my earlier question that I hope someone can answer: why spend $500 more to buy from Bimmertech? Help, anyone? |

I’ll be curious to see how you like. I paid the extra, but did wonder about the additional cost. The personal audio tuning was super cool from Bimmer-tech.

[QUOTE=Randyg;29992633]I went ahead and ordered the Match UP 8DSP with RAM harness for my 2023 330e. Found on Ebay. Far cheaper than going through Bimmertech.
Looking forward for your review Prices seem to be be really high. I see people picking up bimmertech amp for 900 last Xmas and now they are almost double at 1500 |

Do you have an LCI with HK? Have you played around with the equalizer settings as described in some of the threads here? Honestly pretty impressed. Was planning on doing a match 10 but the changes really cleaned up the sound and it’s pretty punchy. Always had amps and speakers in every car before this but honestly think the HK in Lci is pretty good. A few people have said they think it’s an improvement vs pre Lci

Received the Match Up8dsp amp and RAM cable. There are no brackets that Bimmer-tech includes but the connections are just as simple. It's also a simple task to connect to the battery for power. I'll need to come up with a proper mounting area.
I wasn't impressed with the sound right out of the box. But I downloaded a few sound files and everything improved. It will take some more adjusting but again, it's not that hard. Just takes some patience. I'm pleased. |
